The Name < MA-F-LE-KU-ME-N> is an acronym designating the Six Divisions that make up the South West Region of Cameroon ,where MA-MANYU , F-FAKO – LE-LEBIALEM ,KU-KUPE MUNENGUBA , ME- MEME , N- NDIAN .
The MAFLEKUMEN Community Health Society (MCHS-NGO) was founded as a Non governmental , Non Profit making Organization on October 5, 1995 , with MINAT Registration Number 779/G37/D14/VII/926/OAPP.
As a Community Health based NGO, it established a Collaboration Accord with the Ministry of Public Health in May 2001 viz: MOH N0: E32-170/L/MSP/SG/IG/CJ/22/05/2001 . Since then MCHS-NGO has been involved in several Community Health based Programs aimed at Sustaining Health and improving Community Development.

Maflekumen Higher Institute of  Health Sciences  Tiko  a Private Tertiary  Educational  Institution under  the Ministry of  Higher Education with creation authorization No . 08/0113/MINESUP and opening authorization no: 08/0115/MINESUP of 05 May 2008 for the  training  of Higher National Diploma ( HND) students in  Nursing Sciences , Medical Laboratory Sciences and Health care Management Â
The  Maflekumen School of Health Sciences under the Ministry of Public Health which was founded  under Minsante decision Number : No :0402/D/MINSANTE/SESP/SG/DRH/14/05/2012   with  training cycles of State Registered Nurses and  Training cycles of State Principal Medical Laboratory Technicians. ).
The Tertiary  Institute obtained a Ministry of Higher Education authorization No :015/0149/MINESUP/02/04/2015 to train for Professional Bachelors Degrees in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing Science, Healthcare management   under the mentorship and issuance of the degrees by the  University of Buea-Cameroon.
Ministry  of  Higher Education extended  training HND/Degree Programs in MAFLEKUMEN (Extension Auth  No : 21-00337/N/MINESUP/SG/DDES/ESUP/SDA/Aosb /18/01/2021   with  accredited    specialties in   : Midwifery, Pharmacy Technology, Nutrition& Dietetics, Health Sanitary Inspection, Clinical Optometry, Ophthalmic Technology, Dental Prosthesis ,Prosthesis & Orthotics and Ultrasonography .
        The Extension  also  accredited  specialties  in   Business -  Management-Education and Technology  giving  rise  to   MAFLEKUMEN   CAMPUS  B   located at Tiko   GolfÂ

New Layout   with   the  following  training  specialties viz:  Project Management, Human Resource Management, Events Management, NGO management, Quality Management. Banking/Finance, Accountancy, Marketing , Microfinance, Insurance, International trade , Didactics curriculum development & Teaching, Distance & Continuing Education , Education Management & Administration and  Biomedical Equipment Maintenance
The University  Institute   established  a  Maflekumen Health Care Company Limited  with the  aim  of   wholesale/retail sales of   Medical and  Health care related  Products at  very  affordable cost   to  the Community .Â
The University Institute established  a  Maflekumen Fm 96.7 Radio , a Communication and Media Outlet  of  Maflekumen .
The University of Buea  and MAFLEKUMEN  signed  an MOU  for the training  and supervision of   Four years  Direct  Bachelors of  Science Degree Programmes in Nursing  , Medical Laboratory Sciences, Midwifery   as well as  Two years Masters of Science  Degree in Nursing Education, Hospital Administration, Medico-surgical Nursing , Public Health and Hygiene , Epidemiology, Chemical Pathology , Heamatology /Blood Banking , Reproductive  Health /Midwifery  and Clinical Nutrition/Dietetics.
The Maflekumen School of Health Sciences under the auspices of  Minsante applied  for    extension of  its Training Cycles . The Ministry  approved/accredited  five  additional training cycles viz: State Registered Midwifery, State Registered Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Nurses , Assistant Community Nurses  and  Assistant Medical Lab Technicians.
